Jaan Bossier, Clarinet

Jaan Bossier is the clarinetist of Ensemble Modern and a member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra as well as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, among whose founding members he is. He has appeared with these orchestras around the world, including at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Berlin’s Philharmonie, Vienna’s Musikverein and the Sydney Opera House.

Since 2022, he has been a professor of wind chamber music at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK).

He is also the founder of the Jaan Bossier Quartet, for which he writes and arranges all its music.
He has been invited to give numerous chamber music concerts and master classes, including at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the International Music Festival Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Korsholm Music Festival in Vaasa, the Hanover Music Academy, the Orchestra Centre in Dortmund, the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears in Palma de Mallorca, as well as the Alberola Music Master Courses in Valencia. As a solo clarinetist, he has been a regular guest with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, among others.

He has also conducted the Belgian Ensemble Champ d’Action, among others.

He has made CD and DVD recordings with the Jaan Bossier Quartet, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Ensemble Modern, Champ d’Action, the Ensemble 306 and Clarinetnews.
