Michael Maria Kasper, Cello

Michael Maria Kasper began playing the recorder at the age of seven and subsequently took cello lessons. He attended the music academies in Berlin and Cologne. He was a member of the Ensemble Modern from 1980 to 1985 and then became a cellist with the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra until 1997. From 1998 to 2001, he taught cello and contemporary chamber music at the Music Academy in Aachen. There, he initiated a new music concert series in 1997. In 1997 he rejoined the Ensemble Modern. He is also a founding member of the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) and has been head of the M.A. course from 2006 to 2014 offered since 2006 in cooperation with the Frankfurt Academy of Music: ›International Ensemble Modern Academy – M.A. course of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main‹. Michael Maria Kasper lives in Offenbach / Main. In 2009, Ensemble Modern Medien released his portrait CD ›rounds per minute‹.
