Checkpoint Melt Trio

as a Livestream

On Wednesday, April 21, 2021 (8 pm), the Berlin-based Melt Trio, one of the most innovative guitar trios in contemporary jazz, is the featured guest in Ensemble Modern’s series “Checkpoint”. The concert series was initiated in 2015, inspired by the idea of a public musical research laboratory. The concert will be streamed live via the ticket platform Reservix and repeated on Saturday, April 24, 2021 and Tuesday, April 27, 2021 (both at 8 pm). After the live concert on April 21, 2021 Ensemble Modern will offer its first digital “Meet & Greet”, a chance for audience members to discuss their impressions of the evening with the artists via Zoom.

The Melt Trio includes the brothers Peter and Bernhard Meyer on guitar and bass as well as drummer Moritz Baumgärtner. Their progressive and often surprising sound has won them an enthusiastic audience. During the Checkpoint concert, the Melt Trio will join Ensemble Modern members in experimentation, combining compositional sketches with improvisation. The acoustic chamber-music sound of Ensemble Modern meets the electronic one of the Melt Trio. Flutist Dietmar Wiesner was instrumental in bringing about this collaboration: “We got to know the Trio Melt last year at a concert at the Museum for Applied Arts and immediately knew that we would like to collaborate at some point, since we believe we have a lot in common that is worth an exchange of ideas.”

Tickets for the streams and its repeats can be purchased via Reservix using a pricing system based on solidarity. Viewers have a choice between the beginner’s price of 10 Euros, the regular price of 20 Euros and the supporter’s price of 30 Euros. Ticket purchases close one hour before the beginning of the digital event. The streams may also be viewed for up to 48 hours after the event’s original starting time.
