Mark Andre: ›rwh 1–4‹

As part of the festival ›NOW!‹ at the Philharmonie Essen, Ensemble Modern joins the WRD Radio Chorus, the Girls’ Choir of the Essen Cathedral and the SWR Experimental Studio in performing Mark Andre’s four-part cycle ›rwh 1–4‹ under the baton of Ingo Metzmacher. The Aramaic word ›rwh‹ means breath, wind and spirit, and in Mark Andre’s work, it lends the existential experience of breathing a spiritual dimension: a haunting interaction between chorus, ensemble and electronics.
