Hans Werner Henze’s ›Voices‹
at the Alte Oper FrankfurtFrom the 1960s onwards, political activism became a central motivation for the composer Hans Werner Henze’s work. One of the works from this era that has retained its fascination to this day is the 22-part song cycle ›Voices‹: this stirring musical experience will be performed at Ensemble Modern’s last subscription concert of the season at the Alte Oper Frankfurt on June 12, commemorating the 100[sup]th[/sup]birthday of the composer – and repeated at Cologne’s Philharmonie on September 21. Ingo Metzmacher conducts; Amanda Becker (soprano) and Peter Tantsits (tenor) sing the vocal parts.
