Peter Evans

For more than ten years, Ensemble Modern has been presenting the concert series ›Checkpoint‹ – a format enabling different musical worlds to meet. making room for improvisation and experimentation. The guest at the next event will be the American trumpet player Peter Evans. He is known mainly for his genre and boundary-crossing improvised music as well as performances and compositions in jazz, classical and new music. The connecting link with Ensemble Modern is its trumpet player Sava Stoianov: »I’ve known Peter Evans’ CDs for a long time, but we only met two years ago in New York, where we told him about ›Checkpoint‹. Peter is extremely good at connecting different genres. He plays Johann Sebastian Bach’s ›Brandenburg Concerto‹, new music and jazz, and improvises by himself for hours – it is really fascinating.
