6th Subscription Concert of the Season

In its last subscription concert of the current season at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Ensemble Modern presents a programme of works by Philippe Hurel, Eleanor Alberga, Hèctor Parra and Hilda Paredes, all under the baton of the French conductor Jean Deroyer. The composers are from France, Jamaica, Spain and Mexico, and their pieces are wildly different in aesthetics, but collectively described by Ensemble Modern’s cellist Eva Böcker as »energy bombs demanding extreme virtuosity«. Commemorating the death of and paying homage to Peter Eötvös, an excerpt from his musical theatre work ›Der Goldene Drache‹ will also be played, featuring soprano Kateryna Kasper. In Peter Eötvös, Ensemble Modern has lost a friend and companion, and the music world will miss a great composer, conductor and teacher.
