Conscious of the current absence of composers of colour from European playbills, Ensemble Modern explores the subject of ›Afro-Modernism in contemporary music‹, curated by the American musician, composer and theorist George Lewis. Featuring six works by Hannah Kendall, Jessie Cox, Daniel Kidane, Alvin Singleton, Andile Khumalo and Tania León, Ensemble Modern unfolds a panorama of music of the Afro-diaspora, conducted by Vimbayi Kaziboni in a livestream concert from the MaerzMusik festival on March 24.
