Ensemble Modern has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with the South Korean composer Unsuk Chin, who lives in Berlin. In 2009 Ensemble Modern and the Siemens Arts Program commissioned her to write the work ›Gougalōn‹ (2009/11), part of the project ›into...‹. This work will be the focus of the upcoming Happy New Ears concert. Originally planned for performance at the Frankfurt Opera, it will now be streamed live on February 22, 2021 at 7:30 pm from the rooftop hall of the Deutsche Ensemble Akademie (repeated on February 25 and 28, 2021). The evening will be moderated by Kerstin Schüssler-Bach; Roland Kluttig conducts. Unsuk Chin will join the evening remotely via zoom from Rome, where she is currently in residence at the Villa Massimo.
Tickets for the livestream and its repeats can be purchased via Reservix using a pricing system based on solidarity. Viewers have a choice between the beginner’s price of 5 Euros, the regular price of 10 Euros and the supporter’s price of 30 Euros. Ticket purchases close one hour before the beginning of the digital event. The streams may also be viewed for up to 48 hours after the event’s original starting time.
