Ennio Morricone

The Ensemble Modern is deeply saddened by the loss of the great artist, Ennio Morricone. We had the pleasure to meet and perform for him in Rome on several occasions. Only last week, we recorded under the direction of Ingo Metzmacher, what may well be his last piece, “per i 40 anni”, which he wrote for our 40th anniversary. Maestro Morricone was a strong believer in contemporary music and a friend of the Ensemble Modern. We are honored and proud to present this piece and truly thankful for Ennio Morricone’s years of inspiration and support.
