Pascal Dusapin's "Passion"

at the Alte Oper Frankfurt

400 years after their creation, Pascal Dusapin was inspired by Claudio Monteverdi’s operas, focusing on the interpersonal stirrings of the soul in Monteverdi’s work and writing a libretto for “Passion” together with Rita de Letteriis which showcases feelings in concentrated form. In a loose sequence of images, “Passion” shows the elements which constitute our life to this day: fear, joy, pain, curiosity and desire. The palette of sound ranges from the harpsichord (Ueli Wiget) to live electronics. “Passion” was first performed at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in 2008 and subsequently staged in Paris and Lille. The piece will now have its German premiere at the Alte Oper Frankfurt on February 8, when Franck Ollu conducts a concert performance also featuring soloists Keren Motseri (soprano) and Georg Nigel (baritone) and the Vocalconsort Berlin.
