Happy New Ears

Music and Film II – Frankfurt Events II

The Happy New Ears concert on November 3 (Frankfurt Opera, 8 pm) illuminates the interaction of music and film. Ennio Morricone, one of the most well-known film composers, provides the point of departure for the evening with an early chamber music work and examples of his later works for film. The composer, conductor and film lover Johannes Kalitzke introduces his music for the silent movie ›Die Weber‹. A preview of ›Difficult Places‹ by composer Christopher Trapani and filmmaker Leonel Dietsche, created as part of the International Composition Seminar, shows a current approach to combining the two arts of music and film, and also points ahead to the festival ›cresc... Biennale für Moderne Musik Frankfurt Rhein Main‹ (Nov. 26-29), bearing the motto ›Images of Sound‹. The concert will be moderated by the film and theatre scholar Jörg Gerle.
