Audi Summer Festival
„Bach – Boulez – Beethoven“‘Bach – Boulez – Beethoven’ on July 15 at the Audi Summer Concerts (Theater Ingolstadt, 7:30 pm) combines Johann Sebastian Bach’s ‘Kunst der Fuge’ in an orchestral version by Ichiro Nodaira with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Pierre Boulez’ ‘Mémoriale – (...explosante-fixe... Originel)’ for solo flue and 8 instruments, with Dietmar Wiesner as the soloist. The title ‘explosante-fixe’ refers to the Surrealist story ‘Nadia’ by André Breton, a classic of literary modernism. Thomas Zehetmair performs the violin concerto. He already recorded this work with EM in 1987 under the baton of Ernest Bour – the recording, which was only released 25 years later by Ensemble Modern Media, was acclaimed as “Beethoven playing at its finest” by the ‘Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung’. Ken Nagano conducts this concert.
