New CD Release “Roundabouts”

The new release “Roundabouts” unites works by the US-American composer Anthony Cheung which were developed together with Ensemble Modern. The title is taken from the piece “Roundabouts”, a cycle of short pieces for solo piano dedicated to the Ensemble Modern pianist Ueli Wiget. The CD combines live and studio recordings. The ensemble works “Hyperbaton”, “visàvis” and “Discrete Infinity” explore the connection between language and musical approaches. The horn concerto “Fog Mobiles”, featuring the EM horn player Saar Berger and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, was inspired by the sound of the foghorns of Cheung’s hometown of San Francisco.
