Opening of Ruhrtriennale

On August 15 the Ensemble Modern Orchestra will open the 2014 Ruhrtriennale with the German premiere of “De Materie” by the Dutch composer Louis Andriessen, directed by Heiner Goebbels. The performances take place at the Kraftzentrale in Duisburg. In four chapters, “De Materie” reflects upon the connections between matter, spirit and society from changing perspectives. On August 16, a night concert from 11 pm to 4 am features Dietmar Wiesner, Hermann Kretzschmar and Rainer Römer performing Morton Feldman’s “For Philip Guston” at the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum.
