Kurt Weill Fest Dessau

Ensemble Modern and the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) appear at the 2014 Kurt Weill Fest in Dessau: both with their own concerts, but for the first time also as the Ensemble Modern Orchestra. The performance of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”, among other works, on February 28 launches a series of joint projects of the Ensemble Modern Orchestra and former and current IEMA fellows – this was made possible by support from the Federal Cultural Foundation. The programme of the EM chamber music concert (March 1) features works by John Case, Paul Hindemith, Francis Poulenc and Bohuslav Martinů, among others. The IEMA Ensemble performs as part of “Who is who in the Radio” (March 2), presenting works by John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Stefan Wolpe, among others.
