World Premiere of
»A Quiet Place« by Leonard Bernstein in BerlinGrief, old and new wounds and the inability to come to grips with one’s own life – these are the elements leading to domestic upheaval in Leonard Bernstein’s »A Quiet Place«. On November 27, the Ensemble Modern performs a new version of Bernstein’s last stage work, scored for ensemble, under the baton of Kent Nagano at the Berlin Konzerthaus. This new version is a collaboration between the Leonard Bernstein Office and Kent Nagano. The plot has been tightened, the structure is more transparent, and the original instrumentation for large orchestra has been reduced to an ensemble size, giving the work additional flexibility and lightness of sound.
