Yellow Shark and Greggery Peccary
Music by Frank Zappa in Oslo and CracowDuring the 1960s and 1970s, the rock musician and composer Frank Zappa was something like a universal “enfant terrible”. The Ensemble Modern, often called Zappa’s “last band”, worked with him intensively from 1991 to his death in December 1993. The results of this collaboration are the successful programme The Yellow Shark, which was performed all over Europe and then recorded, and the posthumous album Greggery Peccary.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Zappa’s death, the Ensemble Modern performs music from both programmes at the Ultima Festival in Oslo (Sept. 5) and at the Festival Sacrum Profanum in Cracow (Sept. 21).
