All about "Le Sacre du Printemps"
First Subscription Concert of the SeasonIgor Stravinsky’s "Le Sacre du Printemps" is among the trailblazing works of 20th century music history. The Musikfest at the Alte Oper Frankfurt focuses on this piece, and the EM gives its first subscription concert of the season at the Main Auditorium as part of the festival on September 29. Edgard Varèse’s "Ionisation" and George Antheil’s "Ballet mécanique" are the featured works – both were inspired essentially by the study of Stravinsky and his work. A current exploration of the piece takes place in the world premiere of Bernhard Gander’s Take Death, which combines the sound-world of Sacre with music influenced by Death Metal bands and a story inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s action movie Kill Bill.
