Minotaurus

Markus Hechtle's "Minotaurus" premiering at the ECLAT festival

In Greek mythology, the Minotaur, a ferocious creature, hybrid between man and bull, is held captive in a labyrinth, in order to protect the people from him. Friedrich Dürrenmatt re-interprets this myth in his ballad "Minotaurus" (1985) and focuses on the minotaurs' own perceptual world. Dürrenmatt's ballad serves as a basis for Markus Hechtle's new music theatre, which the EM will be premiering at the ECLAT festival in Stuttgart (08 feb) together with actress Nicola Gründel. Hechtle and director Thierry Bruehl developed a concept, that transforms Dürrenmatt's ballad into music theatre, an encount between music and language, between sound and depiction.
