Chamber- and ensemble music by Jörg Widmann

at the Auftakt-Festival

Jörg Widmann‘s work is shaped by his double talent as a clarinet player and composer. Apart from his orchestra- and music theatre works he also dedicates himself to ensemble- and chamber music repeatedly. Widmann has worked with the Ensemble Modern on a number of occasions, most recently for its "into..."-project. On 24 September, at the Alte Oper’s Auftakt-Festival, the EM will be presenting „Fünf Bruchstücke“, "Air" for horn solo, „Duell for Posaune and e-guitar“ and an etude for solo violin, which he wrote for his sister Carolin Widmann – a challenging piece, full of technical difficulties. Widmann himself will be conducting his "Liebeslied“ and the virtuosic "Freie Stücke" – wanderings through space and time.
