Award ceremony for Friedrich Cerha in Munich

Ernst von Siemens Music Prize

On 22 June 2012, the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation honours Friedrich Cerha with the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize, often referred to as the „Nobel Prize for Music“. Cerha will receive this prestigious award from the president of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Dieter Borchmeyer, at a musical ceremony at the Cuvilliés Theatre in Munich. Peter Hagmann, music editor of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, will be giving a speech in the laureate’s honour. As part of the ceremony, the Ensemble Modern will be performing Cerha’s work „Bruchstück, geträumt“, conducted by the composer himself and also, conducted by Oswald Sallaberger, works by the recipients of the Composers’ Prizes: Luke Bedford, Zeynep Gedizlioglu and Ulrich Alexander Kreppein.
