Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik
New compositions by Peter Eötvös, Arnulf Herrmann, Chikage Imai...From 6 to 8 May 2011 the Ensemble Modern is guest at this year’s Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik. Since 1969 the WDR (West German Broadcasting) has been leading into musical borderland and presented novelties of various composers together with the city of Witten. Under the title "Energische Schönheit" (“Energetic Beauty”) the Ensemble Modern will be performing new works by Anthony Cheung, Peter Eötvös, Chikage Imai and Vassos Nicolaou on 6 May 2011 (Festsaal, 8pm). The concert on 8 May 2011 is titled "Spiegelreflexionen" (“mirror reflexions”) and will present new works by Arnulf Herrmann, Misato Mochizuki and Hans Zender (Theatersaal, 3:30pm). The Ensemble Modern is joined by the vocal ensemble Schola Heidelberg as well as Claron McFadden (soprano) and Sebastian Hübner (tenor). The Ensemble Modern will also be presenting four of the seven premieres at the Alte Oper Frankfurt on 9 May 2011 (8pm, Mozart Saal).
