Forum neuer Musik

On 8 April 2011, Ensemble Modern will be opening the “Forum neuer Musik 2011” with a concert in the broadcasting studio of Deutschlandfunk Cologne. This year’s issue of the festival focuses on Germany and will be portraying three Germany-based composers of different generations who all follow unique artistic paths. Ensemble Modern’s opening concert is dedicated to Jamilia Jazylbekova. The Kazakh composer and mezzo soprano lives in Bremen where she studied composition with Younghi Pagh-Paan. Conducted by Kasper de Roo, the Ensemble Modern will be presenting works from an immediately afore recorded Jazylbekova portrait-CD in the series “Edition Zeitgenössische Musik” by the Deutsche Musikrat.
