Biennale für Moderne Musik Frankfurt Rhein Main
True to its chosen motto TRANSIT, the fourth edition of the Biennial for Modern Music Frankfurt Rhine Main ›cresc...‹ runs from November 22 to 26, 2017, presenting ensemble and orchestral music, jazz, dance and music performances throughout the region Frankfurt Rhine Main. The term »TRANSIT«, inextricably bound up with music and sound arts, offers a field of tension that the festival devotes special space to, featuring artists who build bridges, transcend boundaries and keep repositioning themselves, moving between countries, cultures and genres. One of them is the composer Isang Yun, who would have turned 100 in 2017. Throughout his entire life, he acted as an intermediary between North and South Korea, between Europe and Asia, but also between tradition and avant-garde, arts and politics. The world premieres by young composers participating in the Composers Seminar also demonstrate numerous links to current subjects of discourse within our society. cresc... 2017 studies the social and political outfall of refugees, persecution, migration, identity and freedom, by means of the arts and discourse.
