Georg Friedrich Haas’ ›in vain‹

at Union Halle

Complete darkness and different intensities of light: Georg Friedrich Haas leaves nothing to coincidence in his ensemble piece ›in vain‹. Thus, it is not only the changing sound in the slowness of the piece that underlies a carefully planned process, but also the lighting in the auditorium. For slightly more than an hour, tones and microtones inch their way forward as if through a spiral, reaching various extremes and leaving the audience much room to experience and feel its way towards the effects of these sounds. Due to the nature of the programme, the Alte Oper Frankfurt and Ensemble Modern have chosen an alternative venue for this subscription concert at January 22, 2018, the Union Halle.
