Master Course epoche_f international 2017

Master Course 2017 August 28 - September 1, 2017 at Wolfenbüttel
and concerts in Denmark and Slovakia October 17-22, 2017

During the master course epoch_f 2017, winners of national and international music competitions for young musicians rehearse 21st and 20th-century works in individual, group and tutti sessions, working with the internationally renowned musicians of Ensemble Modern and the conductor Lucas Vis. The master course offers an opportunity to decipher unknown scores, practice playing techniques typical of New Music, and gradually shaping a new sound experience together with the ensemble. In addition, participatns have the opportunity to receive instrumental lessons focusing on one selected solo piece. A selection of the course repertoire will be presented to the public during the final concerts in Hanover (Germany), Aarhus (Denmark) and Bratislava (Slovakia).

Furthermore, participants receive the unique opportunity of playing side by side with the professional Ensemble Modern musicians and staging larger ensemble works together. The daily rhythm workshop with the percussion docent and training sessions in moderation and stage presence round out the course offerings.

First, second and third prize winners of the 2016 or 2017 Federal round of the competition “Jugend musiziert” and European winners of the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY) may apply.

The Master Course epoch_f is presented by the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) in cooperation with the State Music Council for Lower Saxony, Landesmusikakademie Niedernachsen, the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY), and the Foundation “Jugend musiziert” in cooperation with the Lower Saxony Foundation and the Allianz Cultural Foundation. The course is one of the training programmes of the Federal competition “Jugend musiziert”.
